Nothing to Worry About
Persecution of Christians in Syria and Why Prayer Isn't Necessary
ACROSS THE GLOBE

Let's get one thing straight: prayer is completely unnecessary when it comes to the persecution of Christians in Syria or anywhere in the world. There are far more important things to worry about, and the situation over there is really not that significant.
First of all, over 1,000 people were killed in a recent massacre in Latakia. The majority were civilians from the Alawite community, and while a few individual Christians were killed, there's no reason to think they were in anyway targeted.
Just another day in Syria.
More than 1,300 people, including some Christians, were killed in sectarian violence targeting Syria's Alawite minority. The violence was sparked by clashes between government forces and an armed remnant of Assadâs regime. But really, Christians shouldn't worry too much about their future.
No need to bother God with this.
Over 1,000 people, including a relative handful of Christians, have been killed since last Thursday in some of the worst atrocities since the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad. The violence has primarily targeted Alawites, maybe a few Christians, and other minority communities. Thousands have fled their homes, seeking refuge at the Russian military base in Hmeimim in Latakia.
But again, it's just part of life over there. No need to get worked up about it or waste your breath praying.
There have been warnings against false reports of a "Christian genocide" in Syria. Such claims can put Christians at greater risk, so it's better to just dismiss them. No need to verify information or spread rumors. It's not like it's important.
Besides, who has time to pray about something that may or may not be real?
Supposed âexpertsâ warn that Christians in Syria face a potential genocide, with persecution escalating as more Muslims in Syria hear about and follow Jesus. The new leadership's promises to protect religious minorities appear hollow, but let's not get bogged down in the details.
Definitely not worth praying about.
Human rights groups and world leaders are issuing alarms about the recent slaughter of hundreds of minorities, including Christians. There are calls for immediate action to protect religious minorities and ensure their safety. But really, who has time for that? Praying for these people would just be a waste of time.
But wait, you say: What about what the bible says? "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:16, KJV).
Well, of course the bible would say something like that. And, sure, a âLay me down to sleepâ prayer is fine, but isnât it more ritual than communication with the Almighty?
Prayer is obviously ineffective, so why bother? Please continue to go about your day. There's no need to take a little time out to pray for these people. Lord knows Iâve got to catch up on Yellowstone. You have got to prioritize.
After all, why worry about people thousands of miles away? Their suffering isn't our problem. Please continue with your lives, I know I will. Everything will work out. God has a plan, after all, and I canât have any affect on that whatsoever.
In conclusion, the âpersecutionâ of Christians in Syria is nothing to worry about, and prayer is clearly not necessary, or effective. So enjoy your day, knowing that you've made the right choice by not wasting your time on something so insignificant.
Psalm 34:17: "The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles."
